Letter from the President

Band!  Attention!  Those two words still make us snap to it.  Many of you still fondly remember the days at MTSU as a proud member of the Band of Blue.  The memories and friendships that were made and developed during those years are the ones that have lasted over the span of time.  NOW is the perfect time to get back in the swing of things and become an active member of the Band of Blue Alumni Club.  This year promises to be another excellent opportunity for us to give back to the Band of Blue by supporting current band members and the directors.  Much was given in the past for us to have those wonderful opportunities we enjoyed…now it’s our turn to provide those opportunities for others.

We have obtained a new website just for the Band of Blue Alumni Club that will quickly be up and running.  The website is: mtsubandalumni.org.  Once the website is active, it will be full of information that will be helpful to you as you seek to be involved and active in BoBAC.  We will have membership forms as well as payment options that are quick, easy and painless.  Important dates and events will also be publicized here as well. Don’t forget to check the site for up to the minute information. 

The MTSU Band program continues to grow in numbers and excellence.  If you haven’t had the opportunity lately to hear the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Band of Blue or Chamber Winds, you should take the time to hear them.  They are certainly all fine examples of quality musicianship.  Click on their website www.mtsubands.com to get the latest information and performance schedules.

Alumni Band will be November 13, 2010 when the Blue Raiders take the field against Sun Belt Conference rival North Texas.  As the date gets closer information will be available on the website so you and your family can make arrangements to attend this fun event.  Each year the group grows and more friendships are rekindled and renewed.  This year we are planning a tribute to Mr. Joe T. Smith, long time MTSU Band of Blue director.  You won’t want to miss out on this!!!
